Your Home's First Line of Defense Against the Elements: Storm Windows

Storm windows are an important part of protecting your home from the elements. These stormproof windows are designed to be strong, durable, and highly weather-resistant. By overlapping the frame outside, storm windows provide a barrier against wind and rain, acting as your home’s first line of defence against the elements. With a double gasket system, these casement windows provide an extra layer of protection and security, ensuring that your home is safe from the harshest weather conditions.

What Are Storm Windows?
Storm windows are a great way to protect your home from the elements. Also known as storm proof windows, they are casement windows that overlap the frame on the outside, leaving no gaps for the wind or rain to penetrate. Storm windows are designed to create a weather-resistant barrier between the exterior of your home and the outdoor elements.
These windows typically feature double glazing with a double gasket system in between that creates an airtight seal to prevent drafts, rain, and wind from entering your home. The frames of storm windows are usually thinner than standard windows but are still highly secure and reliable.
How to Choose the Right Storm Window for Your Home
Choosing the right storm window for your home is an important decision. Stormproof windows are essential in providing the highest levels of protection against bad weather and ensuring the security of your home.

When it comes to selecting the right storm window, there are a few key factors to consider.
The first factor is the type of wood used. Look for wooden windows made from high-quality timber such as Redwood, Sapele or Oak. These types of wood are naturally more resistant to wear and tear from the elements, giving you a more durable product that will last for decades to come.

Next, look for overlapping windows that are designed with two gaskets which can form a tight seal when closed. This will ensure maximum protection from wind and rain, keeping the interior of your home safe and dry. It’s also important to make sure the windows fit properly, with no gaps or holes that could let in moisture.

Finally, consider the style of storm window that best complements the aesthetic of your home. Whether you opt for classic casement windows or modern double-hung designs, having a range of colours and finishes available to choose from will give you the freedom to find the perfect option to suit your needs.
